MySpace Updates User Profile Designs and UI Elements

The former reigning king of social networking land MySpace is rolling out new user profile designs. The update came from Sean Percival, Myspace’s VP of Online Marketing. In a short tweet Sean linked to his online profile, describing it as a “Clean new profile”.

The design updates do look amazing, and you can’t help but realize these are long overdue. MySpace has always looked like a 10 year old’s playground when it comes to profile pages frontend and backend. Luckily it appears as though the company has drawn upon many inspirations similar to Facebook for user interface panels.

Leaked Screenshot of New Digg by Kevin Rose via Twitter

As we all know, Kevin Rose is the brilliant face behind the wildly popular social news site Digg.com. This past Sunday via this tweet Rose leaked a photo which shows a preview of what the new Digg may look like.

There’s actually some in-depth analysis and discussions over at TechCrunch’s post as well. It appears as though the entire home screen has gotten a re-make, showcasing more of a personal list of stories instead of the most popular for the day.

YouTube has launched a new channel in celebration for its five year anniversary this month. Mike Arrington to be Working out of Seattle on TechCrunch

While browsing my morning blog feeds I ran into an interesting post on TechCrunch titled Hi, Seattle. Published on May 3rd, TechCrunch’s founder and creator Mike Arrington discusses his latest news – he’s moving out of Silicon Valley to Seattle, WA.

Although many startups are launched and funded right in northern California, Seattle has started to adapt a booming tech community. A few popular venture firms and web startups have been founded and currently reside in the Seattle area, which is why Mike first discusses his move. Becoming immersed in this new community allows for a much easier and natural way to meet budding internet entrepreneur’s, possibly the next big social network or web app.

Streaming Videos of History Channel’s America: The Story of Us

A riveting documentary and informative series just started last night on History Channel. Simply entitled America: The Story of Us, it contains featured interviews and discussions with important political leaders from everywhere around the US. Luckily for those who missed it, History Channel has some clips streaming from their website.

It appears to be a multi-part documentary series, and History Channel has spared no expense at running up to date pictures and videos from the series on their website. The design is simple to navigate and it’s easy to find information on the play times and content during the series, which I’m already a huge fan of.

Find Popular and Useful Websites Easily with TopSite

Ever find yourself wondering “how can I find the best blogs on the web, or the best social media apps for rating food or movies”? Well look no further, your web search engine is here! When your trust pal Google has failed you, I recommend giving TopSite a shot. It’s a social search engine which tracks down the top 10 most popular websites based on a keyword.

This is a much handier app than many would like to admit. Granted it is pretty simplistic, typing in video will find YouTube and Vimeo, and “search” will bring up Google and Yahoo! as top sites. It’s when you start getting into micro-niche sites that you can find the really great results. Keywords focusing on gaming, or even more specifically types of games like Super Nintendo or Final Fantasy.
