It was announced on a page through Grooveshark’s VIP Area that all previous members of Lala will be getting a free 1 month pass into Grooveshark’s VIP program. You simple go to the address above and enter the special VIP code given to you by Grooveshark.

A few months ago it was announced that huge music site Lala was closing down. It appeared to be heading on a great track, as many search results would pop up in Google through Lala when somebody would search for a song name or artist.

How Metacafe Stacks up against Video Streaming Apps

It’s no doubt when it comes to social media and web video, YouTube takes the cake. Currently within top 5 Alexa rank and also owned by the #1 search engine and website online, YouTube has everything backing it. Google doesn’t control the monopoly though, there are so many cool video streaming services out there each with their own to offer.

Metacafe has shown substantial promise and growth since it’s initial launch in 2003. I’ve been a fan of the site for a while, and ever since they released features to help video publishers make money with original content I’ve loved the site. It’s a brilliant business concept and it’s grown on very quickly.

YouTube Rolls out new User Interface for Flash Video Player

Having seen YouTube roll out new video and profile pages over the past few months, it’s been obvious there’s been a new Flash User Interface in the works for the common video player. Well as of today, YouTube has finally released the newest UI to most video pages, and are slowly trickling down throughout all videos over the next couple of days.

I’m interested to see what else YouTube may have in store for the design. From my use of the design thus far I can tell it’s surely a lot easier to work with, everything seems so much simpler and buttons are less obtrusive. Also, the interface controls fade into the background when you aren’t hovering near them, and once you go in to edit the volume or go fullscreen everything fades into view.

Interview with Adobe’s Primary Developer of Rich Internet Applications Mark Anders

Mark Anders

Mark Anders is a senior principal scientist at Adobe Systems, and one of his core responsibilities is to make Flash the platform for building the next generation of rich internet applications. Prior to Adobe’s acquisition of Macromedia, Anders started and led the Flex Builder Team, but he is probably best known for his work at Microsoft, where during a decade-long career he led the creation of ASP.NET.

Anders recently addressed the “Flash on the beach” conference for Flash designers and developers, where he discussed the future of Flash applications through Adobe, and also building Rich Internet Applications through Adobe’s Flex.
