The social news/social bookmarking script runs on a PHP & MySQL backend with an integrated plugins and template system. The gallery below … [Read more...]

The Resting Changes Post-Launch for Digg v4

digg-v4-heading

Digg v4 was launched during 2010 and did not garner very positive reviews. In fact, many users migrated to the more popular network Reddit where news can flow much more freely. Where did Digg go wrong? I would argue Kevin Rose lost faith in the company. After launching at the turn of the millennium Digg was king online. It offered a fantastic connections system, simple categories and a very popular front page. Most articles would reach upwards of 2000 or more diggs on any given day. The … [Read more...]

subs-diggerplus

Digg is one of my, if not the #1 favorite social news site to date. Wracking up tens of millions of pageviews monthly, Digg, Inc. is a dominant force on the web which has only seen constant and substantial growth. Keeping up with your friend's submissions on the site can get a bit tricky, but with Sub Digger+ the whole process is made very easy. Once at the page, all you do is plug in your Digg username and hit "enter". The app will take a few seconds to load, as it's contacting Digg's API … [Read more...]

Leaked Screenshot of New Digg by Kevin Rose via Twitter

kevin-rose-newdigg

As we all know, Kevin Rose is the brilliant face behind the wildly popular social news site Digg.com. This past Sunday via this tweet Rose leaked a photo which shows a preview of what the new Digg may look like. There's actually some in-depth analysis and discussions over at TechCrunch's post as well. It appears as though the entire home screen has gotten a re-make, showcasing more of a personal list of stories instead of the most popular for the day. … [Read more...]

Digg, Inc. Lays off 10% of Company Staff

digg-cuts

In a blog post this morning by Kevin Rose, it appears as though Digg has cut roughly 10% of their staff. Layoffs have been made to around 12 employees, and it was difficult on the entire staff to part with many members. Digg has done nothing but grow over the past few months, so it's surprising to see a reduction in their team. It seems as though there are still many engineering positions open for the platform, and Digg, Inc. is actively still interested in hiring for jobs. … [Read more...]

Digg Cuts Support for Short URL’s on Submitted Stories

digg-short-urls

When Kevin Rose resumed CEO at Digg, his first act was to remove the Diggbar from submitted stories. This was, as most of us know, just a bad idea in general and was looking at Digg too much as a business and not like the social network and community it is. Well announced today by Keval Desai on Digg's Blog, they will be killing the short URL service for any stories not already submitted to Digg. You will be able to still share the short URL's from stories through Digg's share feature, … [Read more...]
