Exclusive Interview with Relations Manager of DesignFloat

At this point most web designers & developers ingrained in the field know about DesignFloat. It’s a very popular social news submission service where blog authors or content readers can submit their favorite or most interesting news articles, and the published stories with the most votes hit the front page. It has spurred many similar sites, but DesignFloat has always reigned king.

I recently had a fantastic interview with the site’s Relations Manager Mortimer. He revealed some interesting tidbits about DesignFloat, along with their future plans for market competition and how to innovate the social network.

Template Monster has really made a name for itself over the past couple of years. Infamous Design Blog DesignM.ag Being Auctioned on Flippa

Design blogs have become the de-facto of the internet revolution over the past 2-3 years. As web design has shot off and every 16 year old and their mother has started to learn XHTML/CSS, blogging about it has just become another step in the process. DesignM.ag is one of the most popular, sharing free tutorials and graphics frequently in their posts. As of April 5 the site has been put up for auction.

Currently listed at the popular website auction & flipping service Flippa.com, you can view how much the site is going for currently and traffic statistics of the blog. And I will say they are some impressive numbers, ranging just under 800k pageviews last month.

Reddit Page /r/circlejerk Clones 4Chan’s Website Design

After visiting Reddit today, it was pretty obvious my favorite SubReddit circlejerk was up to no good. After toying around all week with a funny upvote arrow which looked similar to male genitalia, we’ve not seen an invasion of 4chan into Reddit.

This design gave me a good chuckle, at how well even the ads are placed. The heading section instead of having letters representing each board, they’ve got your SubReddit’s listed in the same order. There’s even an upload form to create a new thread, blocked out from working of course.

Digital Point Forums Re-Design for the New Year

Of all the internet marketing and blogging forums out there, Digital Point was the first community I ever joined. I’ve been there for years, learned so much from the members and even contributed to helping others along their path. There are many other choices, but DP will always hold a special place in my heart.

After years of running the same design, DP has finally upgraded to a fresh web 2.0 look and feel to the entire site! Now running what is clearly the latest version of vBulletin 4.0 Forum Software, the latest design really kicks new life into such an expansive and helpful community.
