New Digg-Themed Social News and Media Website Thuhm

Digg has become the popular site for internet marketers and bloggers to aspire to. Digg used to be a popular tech website, where tech enthusiasts and internet lovers could gather to share links. Whichever links got the most “diggs” would hit the front page, generally to recieve a surge of traffic.

Now Digg has been limited recently on what it can do, and it’s popularity has started to drop as community members are finding better places to hang out such as Reddit. Unlike any other social bookmarking site before it, Digg has come up with some very inspirational and intuitive designs for the site. There are many websites online today which mimic Digg’s current or classic design themes, and one of the newest website’s I’ve found to compliment Digg’s design is Thuhm.com.

The Web’s Cutest URL Shortening Service Moourl.com

I know I know, I’m a guy and the word “cute” shouldn’t be in my vocabulary. Well if I ever needed to use the word cute to describe anything, it would have to be moourl.com. It’s a URL shortening service with an actually bearable design to it. Beautiful vectors and color scheme, I love the site!

It offers some of the most basic features you would expect – forwarding to a new page, creating custom URL’s, etc. It doesn’t seem to have any tracking stats or clicks from what I can tell, which is where competitor bit.ly reigns supreme right now. But this is a fun little app, and the design is just so perfect!

New URL Shortening services hit the web every week it seems. I can remember not too long ago when TinyURL was just starting up, and that hit with a huge bang. Omegle.com Logo Omegle.com has spread across many social networking hubs, forums, and internet chatrooms rapidly over the past few months. It’s a new site with a very simple concept: you log in anonymously and talk to someone else. Someone random, someone you’ve *probably* never even met before, just talking about whatever. It seems like a breeding ground for spam and pranks, but it ultimately seen very positive results in traffic and user response.

After logging into Reddit the other day, I was surprised to see in one of my favorite subreddits IAmA a topic by the title “I made Omegle.com. AMA“. I figured this was just a prank, but the submitter even provided some proof. I was shocked, and it was the perfect time to learn a bit more about a great upcoming social media website. Read More…

Collection of Photos from Digg’s Office in San Francisco

Digg Logo Digg is undoubtedly the most popular social news website on the internet. Hell, it sort of invented the social news genre itself! Digg has been a huge inspiration to me as a designer and developer, and I have learned so much through Digg’s progression over the years. So I took it upon myself to find a bit more about the site: by digging around Flickr! I found a great collection of office photos inside Digg’s main headquarters in San Francisco, CA, and I’ve posted it up here to share with all my readers. Read More…
