Interview with Professional Freelance Web Designer Shay Howe

One of the fastest growing professions is website design and web developers, especially with the attraction of working freelance. Many people hate the 9-5 grind induced through corporate America, and having the option to work from home on your own time seems like a much more viable and interesting option to many. Although in the end it may require a bit more work on your end, the ultimate freedom of your time seems to pay for itself.

I’ve talked with one of the many talented freelance web designers on the web Shay Howe. I got a great interview with Shay, discussing the ups and downs of living the freelancing life, some great tips for those interested in becoming a freelance designer, plus a whole lot more! Avid readers of FreelanceSwitch will recognize where Shay is coming from, and anyone interested in the freelancing or work-from-home profession should absolutely give this interview a read!

Interview with a Digg.com Software Engineer Kurt Wilms

Digg.com Logo As a web designer myself, I have found that other web designers I talk to always have favorite websites they go to for inspiration. Not saying they want to copy a specific website, but there are just some site’s that “stick” and really inspire you to create web designs. For me, this was Digg.com when I first found the site in 2007. It has gone through many design changes since then, but it’s still one of the most successful startups for websites in the CA area, and it’s fame is very impressive.

Kurt Wilms - Digg.com Software EngineerI got an interview with one of the software engineers at Digg, Kurt Wilms. A Computer Science major from The University of Minnesota, Kurt is a very intelligent software engineer and provides some insight into the Digg lifestyle. What it’s like on a day to day basis, what it’s like to design applications for Digg, and a whole lot more. Any other fans of Digg will know exactly what I’m talking about when I say I’m very excited to have this interview, and I hope you all enjoy it as well.

Interview with CollegeHumor’s Designer Anna Hiort

CollegeHumor Logo I’ve gotten my fair share of laughs from all of the hilarious content on the internet today. Photoshopped photos and amazing/retarded videos are spread like wildfire through forums and social networking sites. However, one of the best sites I’ve ever run across for generally hilarious content has to be Collegehumor. Not only does the site provide hilarious and amusing videos and content, it also has a very large community involvement in the site and a great looking web 2.0 design.

Anna Hiort - CollegeHumor Designer Anna Hiort is one of the main designers for CollegeHumor, designing things from banner artwork to site revisions and user interface designs. I managed to get an interview with her to discuss what things were like working for Collegehumor, what her inspirations are, where she sees Collegehumor going in the near future and so much more. Definitely check out this inspiring interview with CollegeHumor’s main graphic/web designer.
